Steve Gaskin – Our Favourite Places

Our Favourite Places Dementia Action Alliance

Steve Gaskin, a keen amateur photographer, has launched a new website aiming to raise awareness and donations for the Forest of Dean Dementia Action Alliance, in memory of his wife Kathy.

Kathy’s Legacy

Kathy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at 68, and over time, Steve became Kathy’s full-time carer.  Despite Kathy’s challenges, what always seemed to bring a smile to her face was seeing people, children, and pets at local beauty spots in the Forest of Dean, such as Mallards Pike lake.

As a keen photographer, Steve aimed to capture these moments, and suggested to the mindSCAPE team that it may be nice for him to take photographs of other people’s favourite places.  This would later develop into a photo book that could be given back to them.

In Kathy’s memory, Steve aims to encourage people to share images of their favourite settings, whether that be in the Forest of Dean or any other favourite place.  To share a picture, people are encouraged to donate as little as £3, which the Forest of Dean Dementia Action Alliance can use to fund vital support services, and ensure the services already running are sustainable in the future.
