Age Simulation Training

Crossroads Gloucestershire can deliver specialist Age Simulation Training that can support volunteers, local businesses, carers and the community to understand the challenges older people, or those who are living with disabilities face.

The age simulation suit, called a GERT Suit, includes a series of components that impact upon your cognitive abilities.

The age-related impairments include:

  • Opacity of the eye lens
  • Narrowing of the visual field
  • High-frequency hearing loss
  • Joint stiffness
  • Loss of strength
  • Reduced grip and ability
  • Reduced co-ordination skills

The suit can also mimic the following conditions:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Frailty
  • Arthritis
  • Tinnitus
  • Tremors
  • COPD

At Crossroads Gloucestershire, we use the suit to help our staff to develop empathy for the people they support, which empowers them to deliver high quality care services.
